Update
Hey all,
We’re just a week and a half away from party time! We’re excited to see everyone and wanted to pass some notes about the reception along. If you have any questions about anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask us.
Schedule:
- 1:00pm – 2:30pm: Socializing/Mingling
- 2:30pm – 4:00pm: Food, Speeches, and Dances
- 4:00pm – Sunset: Dessert and Hanging Out
Rain or Shine or Cold, Folks:
Since we all know Chicago weather in October is a crapshoot, barring any torrential weather events, we’ll be moving on with the party, so please keep an eye on the weather and come prepared. There is limited room under the pavilion. The Forest Preserve did tell us that we can put up as many 10x10 popup tents as we want, so if you have one and want to throw it in the car just in case, feel free!
No Pets, Please!:
We have some little ones invited to the gathering that are afraid of dogs, so we are asking if you’d please leave your furry friends at home.
Seating:
There are picnic tables at the pavilions, and we are bringing some tables, chairs, and blankets. If you’d like to bring your favorite yard chair or comfy picnic blankets, you’re encouraged to! There are a lot of people coming, so it’d be great if we could… share the load.
A Reiteration of the Dress Code:
There is none! You’re encouraged to dress in fantasy, Tolkien, hobbit, Ren Faire garb, but THIS IS NOT MANDATORY. Also, DRESSING IN NICE CLOTHES IS NOT MANDATORY. You are free to show up how ever you’d like.
A Note on Gifts:
We appreciate you all taking time to come celebrate with us, so gifts are not required.
Food Info:
We’ll be serving a taco/burrito bowl bar with chicken, steak, and veggies and beef empanadas. There will be gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options as well.
Map of Area/Parking:
The orange area is the two groves where the party will be taking place.
The direct parking lot for the preserve is the blue area at the
corner of Milwaukee and Devon. Since the preserve is a public space
and we have some people who have some issues with walking long
distances, we’re asking that if you are able-bodied and able to get
around easily, please park in one of the yellow areas, instead of
this blue section.
The yellow sections (along Milwaukee and Devon and north of the party groves inside of the preserve) have parking available.
